Motivational Poetry: Day 366
Good morning ladies and gentleman
Today I welcome all challengers
365 days of the same old mundane
Now I'm adding 366 to the calendar
Today is the day when I say
I will take no more
I've walked a mile in another mans shoes
Now it's time to close the door
It's time to be me
Do the things i want to do
And if the offends your sensibilities
Then to Hell with you
The days of me serving you a coke with a smile
Are done
Day 366 is the day
When I take care of number one
I'm looking for my ray of sunshine
My happily ever after
And if you can't accept that
Then be forgotten
Like my life's last chapter
Do you feel like you are living life for yourself?
Inspiration for Day 366
I remember being taught in Sunday school the secret to living a happy life. The saying went, "Put Jesus first, yourself last, and others between.".
Somehow this saying stuck with me, and I tried my best to live by it. Whenever it was time for me to make a decision, I thought about what God wanted me to do, then I thought about if it would help someone else. The thing I always forgot in the equation was how the decision would effect me. The results always turned out the same. I'd make someone else happy at the expense of my own happiness, and later on I would resent that person for not appreciating my true sacrifice,
Day 366 was inspired by the anger I feel when I'm giving too much, and not getting anything in return. The message I wanted to convey was, sometimes you have to make decisions according to what will make you happy. If you're living your whole life for others every day of the year, then sometimes you have to declare a day that's all about you. Even if other people see you as being selfish, you have to say to Hell with it, and be happy anyway.
