A Tribute to My Father
A Tribute to My Father
We know great persons,
And all business magnets,
We know masters of words,
Even if people forget them,
Pages of history revive them.
To me, my father was great,
And awesome all his feats,
To me, he forever lives on,
And his words are immortal,
To him is a page in my soul !
He was a guy of few words,
His heart spoke ceaseless,
Fond of smoking and dresses,
Oblivious of what hazard it is !
I smelt smoke and delighted.
Rarely he indulged in big talk,
But whenever he would smile,
A breeze blew, stroked all soft,
Stern though at times he was,
He let his kids to explore free.
His shadow was too cool,
Like a grand banyan tree,
Though he faced odds silent,
We learnt to be kind and tough,
Kiss roses and bear with thorns.
His kindness waved like a sea,
Refuge he was to the souls lost,
Pollen to the bees wandered,
Generosity flowed in his eyes,
Noble host to people he knew !
He cherished his freedom stout,
But quit smoking at our will,
At age eighty,he was cheerful,
He would laugh and talk much,
He would tell tales old and new.
Lung cancer was his nemesis,
In his twilight, couldn't fight back,
How I miss him,my greatest idol !
How he would extend help to all !
In times tough and days blissful !
