Funny Poetry About an Author and her Husband
My Husband Lets Me Write
My husband lets me write,
He's generous with my time,
He's supportive of my dream,
Although he knows not how to rhyme.
My partner lets me scribble,
He says it is all right
He doesn't whine a bit,
Even when I type all night.
I want to make him proud
And show him my big cheques
I work hard each and every day,
To perfect my online texts.
My husband lets me write,
At least he did until today.
This morning I found a note,
It said he's going his own way.
My husband said he's tired,
Of rice and beans all week,
He's found another girl,
She feeds him like a Greek.
She doesn't write a thing,
In fact she's just learned how to spell
Her grammar is atrocious
And her syntax's gone to h***.
But she knows just how to iron
And she's never missed a meal
Her dusting is amazing
And her meatloaf is unreal.
My husband lets me write
He never bothers me,
In fact, he's even left me
So I can write in peace.
So pursue that dream of yours
It's important to your heart
Just don't be too shocked
If you end up alone and smart!

A Quick Note
I just want to add a quick note that my husband does let me write and he's supporting this writing dream of mine. I started to write a little tribute to him but then I decided to make it a fun poem. This one is for my husband and for my Grandpa, who also writes poems, many of them very funny and always with a bit of a twist!
