My Letter From Beyond- A Poetic Memory

Updated on October 8, 2016

Drift off... Don't be afraid.

At First...

From the best of days, to the worst, I am always the same... Not only do I live everyday, in hopes of "The Answer" to reveal itself to me, Once and for all, showing it's well-waited-for face in my mind, But also, I remain the person I always was, am, and always will be...

My heart is full of courage, my mind, thirsty for knowledge, My imagination, wild and unsettled, while my soul reaps every bit of experience...

Respect for the living, and yet knowing their fate, Makes you wonder sometimes if it may be too late... For a warning from within, a flashing red light, a siren sounding, a whisper in the night...

A dream from afar, in which you read correctly, yet ignore it unknowingly,

"Out of sight, out of mind!", you say. But be warned... Your never alone, night, or day.

The eye in the sky will always tell, while you're away...

In my minds' eye, I see sights, hear voices, and emotions ignite. My heart says, "Pay Attention!", yet I block it all out, like it never happened, "How can I tell the difference", I ask.

("You can't right now, your minds' in the flask!")

Nothing can stop my eye from seeing, not darkness nor blindness, or naivity, alike. Nothing can stop the power of the trained psych... Once you learn, you never forget, it's automatic, like riding a bike.

My mind swirls with visions, unwanted. I do not want to see! Sometimes I hate these quarrels inside of me.

They say, "Be careful what you wish for, for you may just get it..." Well now I know, because I can't forget it.

I cannot breathe, the thoughts are strangling me, Take me... Set me free.

I lose sight of reality, and drift off to a comfortable "nowhere". A blackness, a depth of my soul, floating like I am underwater.

Up and away, or back to where I came from? Is it up to me?

I let go, and feel like I am passing through an eternity.

Am I dead? Have I proceeded to another life in another form? I am still me, but not the same, I look down, and there I lay, cold, not warm.

I am amazed at the sight of myself, so I linger, and gaze longer. The expression on my face, serene and somber.

My body, flat and lifeless, not a pulse, not a twitch, They closed my eyes, but I can still see, so I still exist,

I can't wait to go back and tell my tale, Then I find out, when I see everyone so pale...

There is no return, for now, at least. I must proceed to the next step, facing my inner beast.

Am I ready for this, I hope, as I am not allowed to turn around, Upward, and outward, my soul is bound.

"Follow the light, and the familiar vioces.", I am told. "A new inner peace, and experience, behold!"

On to brighter days, and hopes to be greeted by a motherly face, I start on my journey, to this new, wonderous, beautiful place.

Flying, as I wish, running through the clouds, Soaring like an eagle, brave and proud.

The sun is my opponent, as we race for the nearest star, Closer and closer, now never too far.

I speed past the star and rocket out of sight. I am getting closer to the brilliant light.

As I get near, I slow down, and capture the view, I beg to remember it, when my life is anew.

Bright and brilliant, yet calm and serene. An invitation to a whole new scene...

For now I must cease, for what lies beyond is not for your mind. I am truly sorry, my friend, but soon enough, you will be right behind, I cannot go on with this letter from beyond, as it is all up to you, to find.

Please know I am okay, with you, and all, kept safe in my memory. And we will meet again, somewhere, sometime, if we choose it to be...

Signed, Your friend, Your soul mate, Your Inner Peace,

...Your Self.

Know there is more to life, than just life.

Look to the heavens...

Hello, mamadragonfly . . .FANTASTIC hub. So creative and natural. You need to be seeking to write screenplays, poems, are so good. And honest in your presentations. I am in awe. Voted up, useful, interesting, awesome and beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent. Sincerely . . .Kenneth Avery, from a rural town in northwest Alabama that reminds you of Mayberry, where Andy and Barney worked. Please cosider my suggestions in this comment. You are destined for more than short stories. I just feel that in my soul. (kenneth)

The song was brought to my mind in the second sentence of your hub and it was in my mind throughout reading it.  The song is about what happens after death. Beautiful song!

I love your description of yourself: "My heart is full of courage, my mind, thirsty for knowledge, My imagination, wild and unsettled, while my soul reaps every bit of experience..." It's very vibrant and reminds me of Walt Whitman's Song of Myself. The whole poem is invigorating. I love your imagery. Thanks for sharing more poetry!
