My Meaning in Life

Updated on August 28, 2014

For The Asking

All I know is asking why -

some of us live, some of us die.

Why some who smile are dead inside.

Why some who love get cast aside.

I ask myself just who am I -

will I live or will I die?

Do I smile while dead inside?

Do I dare to love or live to hide?

Have I the right to wonder why -

some of us live, some of us die.

Why some who lose still want to try.

Why some who win still need to cry.

I ask myself if I could fly -

would I embrace the stunning sky?

Would I open my eyes wide?

Or would I choose to remain blind?

All I know is asking why -

some lend a hand while some stand by.

Some say hello but mean goodbye.

Some turn away, your hardest day,

some choose to stay - right by your side.
