My Sisters Company
If I were there
I'd stroll along the beach at Night
In my Dear Sisters company enjoying
The beauty of the Night sky
The salty smell of the ocean
And the sound the waves make
As it hits the shoreline and rushes out to sea again
I would hold your hand and be your strength
When weakness makes your limbs unsteady
And the pain becomes intolerable
We would laugh and talk of things forgot
Of favorite places and that which used to bring us comfort
We'd sit a spell and look in wonder at the skies
And harken not of life's unfairness
But my dearest Sister we would laugh
In jocular fashion dip our limbs at the water's edge
and when we tired of the Night frolic
We'd walk the trail back
Never lamenting the unfairness of Life but
appreciating life in all the splendor
As looking aft into the horizon
Saying a prayer of thanks
for being in my Dearest Sisters company.
To Ashley, my eldest Daughter and the best big Sister a Sister could ask for.
