My Winter Dream
As the chill goes through my bones~
I will a vision~
Of Dandelions that are past their prime~
As white cotton seeds escape~
The hearty stem as once yellow petals embraced.
While the frost numbs my fingers and toes~
I fantasize~
Buttercups plenty scattered in~
Our sunny field~
I am so yearning this it seems real!
I fight the iciness which took over my mind~
Picturing clouds warm~
Like castles in the sky~
With frequent array of birds flying high by.
I will not allow the coldness to reach my heart~
As I desire to feel a summer breeze~
With palm trees gently swaying~
While children with colorful kites~
Delightfully go on playing.
I dream in the middle of wintery weather~
Imagining the babbling brook~
With sun soaked rocks~
I can sit upon~
As chipmunks scurry~
Back and forth from various nooks~
I slip to catch a glimpse of~
The real snow flurries~
As if I reached the end of~
A very good book too hurried!
Coming down from a readers high~
I realize~
My winter dream~
Is almost to an end~
Yet I will marvel in the time~
When I can dream again.
