November comes too early,

as novel ideas coalesce

and words form

on tip of tongue

off fingertips,

half undone,

stick figures

in black and white.

November comes too late,

bringing its sense of haste,

a sprint toward

finish lines unseen

except through the periphery

of eyes locked on to-do lists.

November is here and I am locked down with my computer, writing a Nano Novel. It is day 4 and I am behind already. I had singing projects this weekend. I will try to catch up with all of you as I can this month.

Thank you!!

There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. It's case of so much to do, so little time.

As we've come to expect from you, the poem is simply sublime. Good luck with the writing.

This is a very meaningful poem, and very understandable as I feel that November is always too early and too late in the year. Good luck with your novel.

Great poem, Audrey - it sure reflects the dedication to NaNo. I just joined on Nov. 1 for the first time and am writing my fingers to the bone. LOL. Best wishes with your novel.

I wish you much success! 2nd year in a row that I planned to take part in "the great novel write off" but didn't get my butt in gear in time.

      Audrey,

You are such an awesome poet. I am sure you will show your gifts with your nano novel. Very Cool. I think this time of year makes completing lots of projects difficult for many of us. I always feel like I am behind in leaving comments.

      Blessings,

      Kim

Message received. Tell me if they are ok, Audrey.

I've ran into them before and was tempted with the many competitions, but so far I have not entered. I believe the annual fee is quite substantial - for me anyway. November is just getting cold, here.

Nanowrimo is fine manitata. It is not really a competition. It is more like an achievement. Between Nov 1 and Nov 30, you write 50,000 words--basically it is a first draft of a novel--it is just that I am behind in my word count. I always am, and need to finish beforre Thanksgiving as that is a family holiday for us--

Thanks. I understood. They do many things and I was talking about the competitions. 50,000. A lot, I know. Carry on, don't worry about responding just yet. Best wishes.

November is the in-between time...it often seems. Such a magic poem that reflects this, and more, with projects and life that are both behind and in front as we prepare for the next of what is not quite known.

You will always be one of my favorite poets and writers, Audrey! Good luck with the writing project.

      Great hub thanks for sharing.
