Nigeria: The Country of My Dreams
I have a Nigeria that I dream about
It's one that totally eclipses what I see throughout
As I share my dream with you, beloved
Take a while to ponder - even if it's blurred!
I dream of a Nigeria
Where people will have no hysteria
Where light will work - there'll be constant power
From hour to succeeding hour
I dream of a Nigeria
Where politics will give the right answer
Where religion, creed, tribe or silly dogma
Will no longer, its people, scatter
I yearn for a Nigeria
Where kids will not die before their appointed hour
Where there'll be solutions to all palaver
Infant/maternal mortality and even malaria!
I long for a Nigeria
Where our tourism would not just be TINAPA
Where investors will walk freely without fear of the kidnapper
Where honest hard work will follow heart-felt prayer!
I am dying to see a Nigeria
Where widows and pensioners will "die" with laughter
Because they sit in peace and quiet after
They serve their Country till they retire!
My heart bleeds to see a Nigeria
That holds her living patriots dear
And comforts the families of those who died serving her
In ways encouraging to those following after.
I am begging to see a Nigeria
Where embarrassments at airports will not trail her
Where her diplomats will not have a case to answer
After they have "served" and built up their Career
Could you tell me if there exists such a Nigeria
Where hope bubbles in hearts of those who love her?
Where those "outside" will give strength to redeem her?
Where the generation coming behind will learn to treasure her?
I believe in Nigeria
It's my God-given Country - My Area
I'll do my best to contribute my quota
To make her truly great - this my dream Nigeria!
