Night Comes Creeping

Updated on October 7, 2014

Night comes creeping

Orange fades to gray.

Evening prayers flow from lips

Their utterances but dark whispers

Oh slight breeze, carry these words to heaven!

Carry a heart's wish to fear night no longer

Bring back peace to a soul

Yearning for but a glimpse of light.

When black fades to yellow

Oh slight breeze, come back tomorrow!

Again, become heaven's messenger

Carry a heart's wish to live again in the sun

Until night comes creeping

And orange fades to gray.

Darkness does have a special kind of magic. There is that ability to hide but only for a short time. Thank you so much for reading my poetry!

Keep on going that's the name of the game in the writing world and with a talent like yours you should most certainly keep going.

      Eddy.

Nice poem Sherri. We all receive rejection letters, don't get put off by them..just let them inspire you to write even more. Voted up.

This is very moody. I love the lines "until night comes creeping and orange fades to gray." Enjoyed it.

      Thanks Bill,

By the way, the letters were promptly tossed in the can with the other rubbish.

I'm with Audrey on this one...love it. As for the rejections letters....use them in the cat litter box. The perfect place for them. Then get to writing again.

Thank you, Audrey. I received a few rejection letters from several literary magazines. I stopped writing for a while, but I think I am ready to try again. This poem is my first try in several months. I am so glad you enjoyed it.
