Night Speaks
As night speaks,
I seek the solace
Of stars spun
From silver skeins
Upon the black tar sky.
As night speaks,
I lower my ear
To feel the pulse
Of earth
Slowing its arc
Into the whisper of starlight.
As night speaks,
My feet find the coolness
Of dirt between my toes
And the moment passes soon,
Too soon.
Sleep succors the stilled heart
While the still, quiet words of night’s peace
Imbed in a vacant corner of the heart--
As the moon sweeps away the hush of dusk
To make room
For the deepness
of silence.
