Now I Understand

I sat upon the porch today
with coffee cup in hand,
took some time to greet the day,
to contemplate the planned.
The air was crisp and fragrant,
alive with tunes of bird.
Pinkish rays of sunlight peeked,
as life, renewed, now stirred.
Awareness dawned within my heart
in the language of the soul,
awakened all my senses to
the Master Planter's goal.
I heard the faintest whisper
in the hollows of my heart,
the answers I'd so long pursued
appeared, to hope impart.
It happened in an instant
when instinctively I knew...
The purpose I was born for
though, buried deep inside me, grew.
Within my heart was planted
the smallest seed, so long ago,
a seed the Planter'd chosen
for the garden of my soul.
With tender care and nurture,
that tiny seed had taken root.
Golden sun light, washed with rain
had birthed a tender shoot.
With time, that shoot had flourished,
tended by the Planter's hand.
Then, came the time for pruning,
an act i couldn't understand.
But gently and so lovingly
the Planter pruned with care.
Before I could recover,
a leafy stem developed there,
and tiny little buds appeared
on the fragile breath of spring.
They slowly grew, unfolding
into blooms to grace the king.
It was the seed of love that grew
to blossom in my soul.
To share with all who venture
into my garden, is my role.
Though it seems simplistic,
this role for which I'm cast,
I, lovingly, embrace with joy
now, thankful for the past.
The knowledge of the Planter's joy,
as I sit with cup in hand,
resonates within my heart
and now I understand.

      My Dear Friend Tender heart.

I really do not think there are words to describe how beautiful this poem is. Once more you have captured in perfect prose one of life's moments, when the realization that the Divine has a plan for you, and suddenly in an instant you see your life stretched out and everything makes sense, and though hard it has been all worthwhile. Your words make my heart and soul sing with Joy

another "I just had to share this poem on facebook moment"

dianeaugust, i feel so humbled by your words...I have spent my whole life regretting who i am...until recently when God in His infinite kindness and mercy...opened my eyes and heart to what He intended me to see...at the age of 57. I can do none but share the joy brought to me. That it touches you moves my heart to tears. On a lighter note, thinking in rhyme is a hoot! and in the shower no less! I wake up thinking in rhyme! and go to sleep the same...my little brain is an echo chamber! Makes for decent poetry, at least! lol...welcome to my world, my dear poet friend!

tndert23--Well, this poem is stunning--the message, the pictures, the phrasing--can I say EVERYTHING about it. And yes, you have found your purpose, you are supposed to share your self, your garden of words. How blessed we are to read them! I knew your words had been affecting me when I started thinking in rhyme while in the shower! See the effect you have!! What a beautfiul garden is yours! da
