SURPRISE...PARTY!

Last weekend, on Friday night, Lover Man and I were on the road again, going over the George Washington bridge, heading towards Connecticut. We had been invited to a Surprise Party for my dear friend of at least 40 years. Her two Beautiful daughters and her gentlemen friend were giving her a "Luncheon Party" on Saturday.

So...once again, we were relying on "Maggie" our miserable "GBS" to get us to the Hotel. Big Mistake. It should have been an easy trip...Right....NO, it was NOT! She got UGLY, She got us LOST...We both began YELLING at one another out of Frustration. Maggie is meanwhile yelling "RECALCULATING, RECALCULATING!". I politely asked Lover Man where were the printed directions that were e-mailed to us. He replied back, he didn't think we needed them because we had "Maggie" to guide us there...BIG MISTAKE, I began to yell a few unladylike Thoughts and he in return yelled back some ungentlemenlike Thoughts. We were Tired and it showed. Finally I said, Lets just call the Hotel, and I did, and a nice gentleman guided us right to their front door. We were to find out that our "Maggie" did give us the wrong turn, but yet when Lover Man checked it later, the correct turn was actually in her system...She is so Scary! However, we do need to update the map in her, which is '09. I have Never Hated a GPS more.

We get a good nights sleep and wake up refreshed and both say in Unison, "I'm sorry" and we mean it, because we both know we don't travel well when we have to be somewhere. When it's just us going, no pressure, no Time Frame, we usually do quite well...I can even Tolerate "Maggie"...who am I kidding, she and I will never LIKE one ANOTHER. We shower, get dressed, pack up, load the car, turn on "Maggie" and now we are off to the Restaurant, which is only suppose to be 10 minutes from the Hotel and the manager has printed out directions how to get there...what could go wrong? It's Connecticut, roads suddenly turn into Country Roads and Yes, we are lost...and "Maggie" is going Nuts, so we turn her off, especially after I threaten to throw her out the Window! We see a house and a man near his pickup truck and I roll down the window and ask him if he knows where this Restaurant is...And he Does, I almost jump out of the car to kiss him. And then he says those words that we are longing to hear, "Follow Me, I'm headed in that direction". OMG, he's an Angel sent from up above. I swear I can hear the music playing, as we both smile happily at one another. We are going to be on time to yell "Surprise" to a wonderful friend.

She arrives and we all Yell "Surprise" and then wait our turn to Hug and Kiss. She is thrilled to see us and can't believe we drove all that distance...And we say, "it was Nothing", and we mean it as the three of us embrace and hug...and she has tears of gratitude as she says, "You've made me feel so special, I'm so glad you came". And we look at one another and are so glad we came too! And once again we are in Love with Life and Each Other.
