OBITUARY
I want to announce
To the entire house
The sad demise of our brother and friend
Stubbornly faithful till the very end
His was a life short-lived
But funny enough, we are not so grieved
He met his untimely death
Even when he employed such ultimate stealth
He wasn’t a thief – do not get me wrong!
If he was, we would not have this throng.
Jimmy, the lad, used the killer we’ve all come to dread and know:
The insecticide that killed our Johnny Mosquito!
I JUST TURNED THE CORNER
I just turned the corner
And I wanted to let you know
In case you’re worrying, don’t bother
I’ve decided to take life steady and slow
Misfortune had been my mother
Pain – the path I follow
With tragedies like no other
I’ve had to take blow after deadly blow
Beloved, comfort me no longer
It’s high time I learnt to grow
To depend no more on sister or brother
‘cos for long, none would help me flow
Today, however,
I woke up with a glow
And I know I’ve turned the corner
I just wanted to let you know.
