Mental Health Poems: Obsessive Compulsion

Updated on June 27, 2013
Source

I cannot describe

My utter revulsion

At my inability to control

This obsessive compulsion

Mind circling like the predator

In search of its prey,

Targeting on this fixation

That won’t go away

An unending itch

That can’t ever be scratched,

The elusive mouse

This cat can’t catch.

And I’m totally losing it,

This thought driving me insane,

Can somebody show me

The off switch to this brain.

We definitely need to find that off switch we could market it and make a fortune :) Seriously though it is extremely annoying and very tiring when the brain won't switch off. Loved the poem :)

I had just finished writing this when I read your comment. The off switch is definitely a good idea.

Has the person in your verse tried changing the diet his/her brain feeds on PD? One may find rest from directionless, meandering thoughts by feeding and meditating on the Gospel - it works. Much of everything else is like drinking saltwater, which keeps a person coming back for more, and more, leaving a motor head never satisfied.

      Best Wishes,

      R.Q.
