Ode To Facebook

Updated on April 25, 2017

You helped me mend my broken heart

I met you when time had not yet healed what was left of it's shattered pieces

What was left of it's shattered pieces

You helped me fly again to soar to new heights

You helped me to see that love didn't have to come with conditions

You didn't ply me with compliments or false promises

You listened when I told you I couldn't possibly love again

When I cried you called to me

Never divulging my secrets

When I needed you, you would appear no calls no warning

You saw into my heart and knew exactly when I would sink into despair

Often I didn't want to leave my world

It was comforting staying hidden

Beneath the yards of quilt that I buried myself under

But you dragged me out of my doldrums and gave me laughter

Music and conversation

When physical pain became unbearable

And I couldn't leave my bed you came to me

My lap became your favorite spot

As I slept and healed

You waited patiently for me to recover

When Friends and Family bemoaned the fact that I have too much time on my hands

You sympathized because only you knew the cause

Thank you, Facebook
