Ode to my Sister
Another sister tribute...
To my sister on her birthday - Here is a tribute to another sister and the memories of when she was growing up.
When I was young,
A long long time ago,
Along came this baby.
Was she a friend or was she a foe?
She had a pudgy noise, and her hair stuck up wild
When she was awake all she did was poop and cry
Yet those dirty diapers seem so very far away
As those childhood memories just fly by.
Two different worlds, several years apart
I was a teenager, you a young child
My temperament was aggressive
Yours became much more mild
I left home while you stayed where you were
A sister from a distance, miles apart
All those letters you wrote...
That was just the start!
Yet we continued to grow,
Our relationship would bloom
I eventually moved back home,
(Forcing you to have to share your room!)
The years have gone fast,
As I realized who exactly you are
Your a sister close at heart,
Even if the miles are far
Our ages are just numbers
When I'm old you will be too!
Our parents made us sisters,
But our friendship is up to me and you!
So even though we are family,
I'm glad you are who you are
We've shared so many experiences,
(and none of them at a bar!)
We've had game nights and movie nights
And have done nothing at all
You are my sister, my friend
And when we are together, we always have a ball.
So, since you were asking...
I wrote something new
It's my "Ode to My Sister"
And it's dedicated to my crazy sister - That's You!
