Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex.
Crafty is those whom mask the mirror up on the wall,
Spineless are those running as insecurities prevail,
As you thought now to fear, you have answered your call.
A tempter of fate, nothing in mind to repent,
Assuring those that of purity of heart-
The devil’s work you have blessed with consent.
How one may accept their life to be,
Never forgetting what has been sacrificed,
Not withstanding what has been set free.
To kiss those unforgiving lips but one last time,
Would not the poison take my soul?
In this my innocence, truly be your crime?
Before you are settled into this Earth,
Temptation will set off a blaze to self-ruin in all;
You have no one to blame, this you have given birth.
Soon my shattered spirit will move on:
Alas I will see me in completion-
But will you mourn after I have gone?
Often we hear of the fury of hell’s desire,
How a sinner without forgiveness will forever burn-
Are you afraid you have set your own fire?
There are choices to be made in love and hate,
Duped into a promising future,
It was your loved ones you choose to negate.
I sit back and wonder was this a voodoo or hex,
When did a metamorphosis go in reverse?
This is your destiny, your Oedipus Rex.
