Once Upon a Time in Love
Once upon a time when we were young and we could hear the whispers of the leaves
When all things seemed possible and in miracles we believed
When stars shone bright and love sparkled in our eyes
When we were naive and hope was bursting like starlight in our lives
We blushed at sweet words we spoke of each other
And butterflies took to our tummy when we became lovers
We drank hot chocolate and listened to love songs by Frank Sinatra
And kissed and smooched as we held each other
Those were the days, love was as beautiful as a painting created by Nature
When our hearts became one, beating as each other’s savior
But that was once upon a time, Once upon a time when you were around
Now I bring flowers to your headstone and place them on the ground
I cry every day that you are gone
I wake to an unsunken pillow, a place your head would have been cuddled in my arms
I look up to the heavens and question his motives
Why?
Why did you take my true love away from me
I prayed for healing when she was sick, but that wasn’t meant to be
My heart vanquished when the doctor gave me the news
That my baby’s soul had flown away, now my life was a permanent blackened mood.
I miss her so much, my body trembles at the thought
That she is not around anymore, now my life is worth naught
But I will see her again
I plan on seeing her very soon.
As I took out the pills, and headed to the dark room.
