One Night Love Poem

Updated on July 7, 2012

one night
you sang
for me
a song

it found
my heart
and beats
in there

your laugh
a sunbeam
i can touch
like a kitten
that curls up
in the warmest spot

your embrace
more comforting than silk
more dear to me
than an angel's kiss

the thought of you
dances with me
free and happy
every day
and every night

your kiss
a star
that fell
it sparkles
on my cheek
where it landed
long ago

across a smokey room
anxious eyes
hid their love

little one
your blush
endeared me

i pretend
we danced
when you were brave
and i was scared
that i had let you kiss me
when you dared
that i had known
what to say
or what to do
to make you stay

instead of you
going away

The Story Behind the Poem

I fell in love with a girl in just one night a long time ago. I wrote this poem to deal with reality and that messy emotion of love that opened up in me.

No matter where life takes me, she'll always have a special place in my heart.
