Out In The Cold

Updated on June 19, 2013

One More Day

With my face all red and my lips chapped

Where my numb toes can't get warm no matter what they do

I want to go to a place where I can feel the hot air blowing

This is where I want to be

Not bundled up tight in two coats every night

Rubbing my hands constantly to prevent frost bite

I don't ask for much

My annoying cough and sneezing have finally stopped

I'm all done with my runny nose

I can hear the wind blowing

Looking back at everything I have been though

Now everything so pleasing to the touch

I don't know how to tell you

My day is so much better

You can't beat having something as wonderful and warm as heat

Ahh, there's nothing like a Maine winter. I lived there just under a year (a corporate relocation) but long enough to appreciate what bone-cold is.

I live in a place that has sunshine around 325 days of sunshine each year and in winter as long as the wind is not coming over the mountains from the north we still get days when it is in the early seventies which is warm enough to go out without a jacket.

It is so warm still that I have still been able to photographs bees in December and January how cool is that :)

Still I must admit I would love to see a bit of snow, the down side would be Spanish homes are not built for the cold and so when it is cold at night in the winter it can be tough with the marble floors to heat the place up.

Voting up I enjoyed your hub

Good poetry, cold and heat, both are good for me, just not too much of it.

shara63 My father use to say what is the good if we don't know good from the bad.I continue to appreciate what I see and what I can't see.For all things have an influence on me.Thanx so much for sharing such special advice and living with both the cold and the heat I have to say what a great contrast that makes me love both.Thanx and enjoy a wonderful night.

Nice poem, and its a fact, good is valued for the presence of bad ....everything has its own importance and they are mutaual to each other......its 'time' that makes them acceptable or rejectable as per now, warmth is getting priority over cold but in summer the case is reverse!!
