"Out of the Ashes"

Updated on January 29, 2018

When your eyes have been tainted red with lies,
its hard to see the truth.
When your lips have been bruised with lust,
its hard to say, "I love you."
And its hard to believe,
when your mind has been wrong so many times before.
And its hard to feel anything,
when your heart has been torn.
But, yet, and still,
we keep trying.
We have no wings,
but, yet, we're flying.
And all the while,
bridges are burning,
ashes are falling,
our hearts still yearning,
yearning to be whole again,
yearning for peace.
Its a long road out,
when its so hard just to breathe.
So take your time,
moving slow.
Out of the ashes you'll see,
that roses grow.

You're incredibly romantic, and have obviously been through a lot. Amazing writing. I want more.

haha - perhaps they were hideous. I though Jean looked pretty good in hers, though. Mine didn't do my figger ant good. We certainly did have fun making & modeling them. LOL.

I have to tell you - that rose! When I was about 15 my friend Jean & I had this BIG project of designing & making ourselves dresses for ourselve of white cloth (almost like flour sack cloth!)and we appliqued and embroidered humongous black roses just like that from the top to the bottom. I must find a picture. We took pictures with our Brownie cameras. I'll find and scan them for you. It's such a coincidence! Only difference is that the stem & leaves were black too - to show up on the white.
