POETRY- I NEVER GAVE UP

Updated on December 10, 2011

I have finally found my way

Through my trials and tribulations

I'm beginning to understand life

So called friends that have been shady

Where were you when I needed you

You were no where to be found

You provided me with no comfort

As I spent the nights sleeping on the ground

I am not seeking your pity

But yet you are forgiven

Some of us have to dance with death

Before we can begin living

I have walked through the fire

I have been to the bottom

Shaking so cold and hungry

I guess I was forgotten

I lost the only thing that I hold dear

My heart stopped beating that day

I have spent every second since

Pushing everyone away

Only God can judge me

Open my eyes so I see clear

I chased away my demons

I walk through the dark without any fear

I am stronger, I am wiser

I learned from mistakes I made

To get to this point in time

This very second, this minute, this day

Took believing in myself

Always help others when you can

We all fall at some point in time

We all need a helping hand

We are only given this moment

Even though we can't change the past

Don't take a single second for granted

We never know if it is our last

Hi again Jami. Thanks so much. Once you hit the bottom, you can only go up. I use lyrics from 50 cent, "death has to be easy cause life is hard". I always enjoy your comments Jami cause I know your work. Your poetry is amazing and your wording is incredible. Every poem I have read of yours has deep meaning. That is poetry at its best. Thanks for your time and vote Jami.

Izetti, your comment means a lot, so true because you can relate. It really is my passion to do this as a career and I hope one day I am blessed with that chance. I wish I could put my songs on here, but I have to do the copyright deal. Thanks so much. It was well worth hearing this. You made my day.

This is a very heartfelt poem. I've been to a similar place/situation/feeling as what you've expressed here so this truly resonated with me. Well done. I don't usually like poetry and I love this, really. I love it because it made me feel something.

Your last words sum this poem up nicely:

"Don't take a single second for granted

We never know if it is our last"

So true! Nice music to accompany this!

You're a great writer! This poem ranks #1 in my book. Funny how people tend to run the other way when someone needs help, huh?

Very beautiful! Trials make us stronger. Experience wiser and living in the moment is the only way to experience what is. Your poem describes this journey well! Thank you!

Thanks again WannaB Writer. I am just now starting to use the gifts that God gave me. I know this is what he wants me to use, but I haven't figured out my path. I hope to write poetry books and lyrics for country music one day. That is my dream. Thanks and take care.
