POETRY-PAST MISTAKES

Updated on September 30, 2011
Source

In the far vast distant light

I see the outline of a pair of wings

My surroundings are solid white

A feeling of comfort sets within me

I have never been here before

I have never felt so at peace

I sit with most eagerly eyes

My past is the past, that now means everything

Time has stopped yet for just a moment

As I wipe a tear falling from my eyes

Suddenly I catch a shade of blue

As I glance up into the sky

I feel a gentle breeze

I feel softness with my finger tips

I have never felt such sweet surrender

A feeling I have been destined to miss

As my vision begins to return

More and more sections of beauty I now see

I can't come to any conclusion

This magical event that has came over me

Yes this heart has felt hell and pain

Yes, these scars may never heal

I know I can't change my past

But I can the way I act and feel

Friend we all make mistakes

The pain only stays within the holder

I may be far in distance from perfect

But I'll be forgiven when it is all over

I firmly believe we get what we give

We can be forgiven no matter where we've been

I apologized and I learned how to forgive

I became a better person, lover, and friend

As I take one last glance back

This heart no longer wears a cast

Today is my new beginning

As I leave behind the ashes of my past

Nicely stated. Not much we can do about our past but to go forward with a clear conscience and do the best we can. You summed it up perfectly with your last sentence:

      "Today is my new beginning

As I leave behind the ashes of my past"

Good lyrics. lyrics like that don't always take time to learn, but they do take a soul and love. I didn't get my gift from the Lord, i got it from a strong soul, and love. Your writing is good, but always remember it can always get better. my writing can of course get better to.

Emma, I do. Mostly country and some soft rock. I have completed over 300 songs and I am waiting for the beginning of the year to but some equipment so I can post it on youtube. Music is my real passion and I want to help others with my music. I know poetry follows those guidelines, but music is so much more powerful. I am a better lyricist then singer, but I believe with practice, I could be really good. I sing better when other people are around then being by myself. Don't know why. I love singing though. I truthfully believe I could make it. If I ever get my finances straight and a vehicle, I am going to try out for Nashville Star. Big maybe though cause there is not much money to play with. You never know though.

I am hoping to be done by the new year, but it may be more like March. However, anything I get before then, you have first dibs. Thanks for all your faith. I really believe I can make it. It is what I do best and it was a gift from God. That has to mean something.

We can all have, and share, opinions about how important, or not, this or that aspect of our being is to our perception of Self. But the one undebatable essence of who we all ARE, is our /continuity/ on this planet. Your poem captures that inevitability with sensitivity and grace. Thank you.

      You are a wonderful writer!

The past may be clingy and needy but let the soul be strong and forgiving. To forgive oneself and others, release oneself from the clutches of negativity that follows like shadows. Let a light shine on those shadows, bringing validation and clarification to the present...

Give a light and it will shine

Present darkness and it will spread like fire

Both energies are choices of commitment...

Just a structural comment. I know HP makes it very difficult to type poems single-spaced, but as good as this poem is--I think its sense of aesthetic cohesion would improve, were it single-spaced. Sometimes you can type the piece in Word, then past it into a capsule in HP. It might be worth a try. . . . (and now for something completely different)-- I have a new poem on my site that I'd really like your fix on, if you have a minute.

Moonfroth, thanks for the input. Never thought about that. Every article that I have wrote in word, then pasted, always comes back as a duplicated article. I figured it was because I pasted it from word. No poems, just articles on such and such. I would be glad to read it and thanks for the advice.
