Travelin' Night and Day - Poetry and Photography

Updated on October 23, 2012
Source

Inspired by Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man"

"Travelin' Night & Day...just to be with you"

Pillow marks a heavy head upon the strike of three

Oh, Sweetheart hush, forgive me please my Dear ;

Your hair I brush gently off your cheek, don't get up for me

Your dreamy eyes I lightly kiss, I severed your sleep, I fear.

But my little Love, you're one tough, pretty brunette

Your smile twinkles in the silent, dimness of the room;

Your sexy pale lingerie shimmers your curvy silhouette

A loving Wife, you carefully packed my lunch for noon.

You inspire and keep hope aglow, I promise to you my only Love

My sweat, my strength, my angelic guide will lead me safely home to you;

Spare me Sweet your divine lips, and loving arms like wings of a dove

The mile-long roads, the hour-stretched highways are only steps away, it's true.

The fine lunch with your amusing note lasted me through the day

How lucky I am of your love and I desire you more; no, not few;

Through thick and thin the strong wheels are fast wheeling away

I am happily and tirelessly travelin' night and day...just to be with you.

More sights as we were driving through the highway and the far side of the country.

      Hi KDuBarry03! I'm glad you liked this poetry hub. Thank you for the vote. :)

      As long as we live, we emote and through emoting comes words flowing too easily. How better do we come to terms with our emotions but by putting it down on paper or make a hub? (Big smile) I'm really happy that you have dropped by, KDu! Have a fine day! Cheers!

      Hi Rahul! The longing in this poem indeed makes it nostalgic. I get nostalgic too for I look at love how it had more importance and meaning in the past. The wooing of a woman, courting and visits are full of romantic words, actions and even the suitor singing like a bird serenading to his chosen love.

      Thanks Rahul and have a pleasant day!

      Hi Gypsy Rose Lee! I don't know anyone who drives a huge truck but as I see many of them on the highway, driving out of town and reading news of how some truck drivers' lives are affected even on daylight (falling asleep behind the wheels), heavy rain (slippery roads), snow (long winter trips) and driving in the storm, made me think of them. I took pictures of mostly container vans along the way and thought I could write a little poem about it. To many, life being always on the road is tough, but we are left with a tiny choice to keep living. Thank you! :)

      What a great poem on love. It is so touching and I love the romantic flow that leads to the "travel all night and day just to be with you" phrase. The photos and captions are a great add to the meaning.

      Voted up and awesome. Love those pics. Knew someone who was married to a truck driver and the days he spent on the road were the toughest.
