PSYCHOTIC IGNORANCE

Updated on December 1, 2011
Source

By: Wayne Brown

Nameless faces along the crowded city streets

No time for names, no time to meet

Humanity in motion all headed somewhere

Totally focused on their own welfare

Honking horns, crying tires, screaming shouts

Seems there’s a traffic nightmare all about

Drivers are upset; cut-off and in a rage

Just kill the guy next to you; turn the page

Chaos, confusion, blank spaces in time

Poetry on walls with verses that won’t rhyme

Graffiti walls painted way up passed our knees

Is it a form of art or have we turned to sleaze?

Crime in the streets; robbing banks and liquor stores

Pimps propped up on the corner, working their whores

All happening right out in there in plain sight

No fear of seeing John Law downtown tonight

Skateboarders weaving their way between cars

Drunks stumbling into the streets out of bars

Sanity is hiding in the alley out back

Chaos reigns supreme on the Main Street track

Plotters, pilferers, robbers, killers and the like

Are all out on the prowl on this city night

Looking for any targets of opportunity

Some will go to jail but most will run free

This is what a civilized society becomes

When the streets are over-run with gutter-scum

Civility is lost; crime is the pastime of choice

The noise of the chaos drowns out a saner voice

Society has lost its trust; disorder rules the night

People huddle in their houses overcome by fright

Looting and burning; take whatever you can

Then jump through the window and run from the man

Society and order teeter on the edge of destruction

Laws are no longer a deterrence or obstruction

There are so many criminals, they steal from each other

Things are out of hand; mankind is killing his brother

Crooked politicians lining their pockets with gold

A nation immersed in debt and ready to fold

Still the lies are broadcast on the nightly news

To mollify and pacify if not to merely confuse

The glue has been pulled from the precious seams

An orderly world is just a remembrance of dreams

Faith, trust, and love are completely dispensed

The world is overrun with psychotic ignorance

@CMerritt...I was inspired to write this one witnessing the riots in Europe and thinking how easily the "Occupy" crowd could be swayed into the same actions and used to promote civil choas. There are those in our country who would love to see it come to that. Thanks.Chris. WB

@Billjordan...Thanks much...glad you liked it. WB

I think the title psychotic ignorance, pretty much sums it up perfectly.

This is what a civilized society becomes

When the streets are over-run with gutter-scum

      painfully true!

@RedElf...No it is not, people are easily manipulated for something that would never support in the first place if they only had the common sense to figure it out. WB

Common sense isn't all that common. Fight the good fight, Wayne.

@drbj...Amen Doc, as much as I hate to say it. America is being led toward internal destruction. I hope we can change that perspective. WB

@blake4d...I'm just a "wain" sort of guy. Thanks much Blake. I try to raise the interest to a level of common sense. Without common sense, we are all fried. WB

You tell em WB. I am not interested in Operation Occupy Jail Cell. I would rather Occupy Brain Cell first. Or did I miss the point of this piece completely. Love ya when your writing, and I love ya when your writing wains...Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d

OK, Wayne, you have given me the new slogan for the presidential election in 2012:

Vote for the person of your choice on that November date,

Any candidate you like but VOTE - before it's too late!

@Ruchira...The best way we can get there is at the voting booth while our vote still means something. One of these days they are going to try to take that away on the basis that it is too expensive to hold elections...I can't wait to hear the reasons...well, I can wait! LOL! WB

Hey Wayne, You have given us the FACTS happening world-wide.

Anger can push a man to off-limits and that can be so crude and obscene. Bureaucrats are enjoying all this behind barricades.

Wish we could bring about some changes in the above!

      Awesome, Interesting & Voted up!

@breakfastpop....I am afraid it might be the state of things before long if we don't get some changes in Washington. WB
