Passing the Baton (inspirational poetry)
As an enormous race, a relaying,
And all across this land,
The baton of our caring,
To be exchanged, hand in hand.
Their spiked shoes worn,
The tracker, to quickly, run ahead,
About fields, where swift feet, skilled,
all may dare to tread.
As stars in the heavens,
To revolve in deepest space,
Every woman, man, and child,
All to have a special place.
Children of a Universe, placed there,
A state of such celestial grace,
None confined, nor are bound,
Before God's own shining face.
A great race in grandest Zion,
Is this, as ours, compared,
Not to matter the grueling trek,
Or gasps of air, so spared.
A most strenuous tole to be erased,
By our own strongest fortitude,
Determination beyond compare,
With no spirit, to exclude.
Passing the sacred baton of life,
That of goodness and fine sharing,
To each brother's child, as their proof,
And of our heart felt caring.
So that tomorrow's new day will be,
One for all to be inspired,
The future world of our children,
To meet every hope, desired.
