Patterns of Fate

Updated on June 19, 2013

Tapestry

If there wasn’t a them,

there would not be an us.

If there wasn’t a then,

there would not be a now.

Had I been in a different place,

I would not be here.

Pull one thread

and the picture fades.

Change one line

and the story dies.

Remove a step

and the waltz ends

All the shapes necessary

To hold our puzzle together

We cannot live in merely a part,

of this dream,

unless we keep them all.

This is really interesting. It capsulizes thoughts that I often have about where I am in life now, that "road not taken" stuff. One turn could have changed it all. For better or worse? We can never know.

We can't, but I believe we always end up where we need to be.

Very profound. I have asked myself...if I could go back in time knowing what I know now, would I? The implications of such a decision would be unimaginable.

Nicely written! Reminds me of how we are part of a larger picture, and not just small parts of this world.

Your poem leads a winding path that leads to much deeper questions. Thought provoking and interesting.
