Perseverance –the 48th Good Word in the “good Words Project”

Updated on June 24, 2020

The Good Word Perseverance

Perseverance—the 48th Good Word in this series of Good Words, a project created by Jo "grace" Goldsmith gave us to encourage us to “Persevere” never give up our desire to be the best most creative writers we can be, and to inspire us to live up to our God given potential as human beings, to be what we were put here to be.

I have seen Jo "Grace" persevere through so many setbacks these 3 short years that she has been and is still an inspiration as she stayed positive and upbeat, although sometimes through her tears, but always manages to persevere.

A special thanks to you Jo for inspiring us to keep on writing.

The Persistent ant

The Persistent ant, was sculpted, for my husband for his perseverance through all these years. I never see him give up on whatever he decides to do. Hubby is a retired carpenter--thus the carpenter ant.

Sculpture by a man named Will Hatch and it is called a Whim-ZEE.

What is Perseverance?

Perseverance: Persistence, Determination, Grit, Insistence, Resolution, and Diligence

To me perseverance is the determination to reach my goal no matter what the opposition.

Perservance

© by Shyron Shenko

Perseverance is to never ever give-up

No matter what you do

Just be persistent

And you will see your projects through

Let no one hold you back, or tell you

That what you are trying

Is something you can’t do

Dig in your heels and show them

You will see your projects through

Even when things seem to be

Down in the dumps for me

Perseverance is the key

And my projects I will see them through

You will see

Even when you are feeling low

Never let it show

Let your perseverance start anew

And you will see your project through

High Hopes

Once there was a silly old ant

Who thought he could move a rubber tree plant

Everyone knows an ant can't

Move a rubber tree plant, but he had high hopes

— by J. Van Heusen, S. Cahn

Do you have Perseverance?

Things can happen that just sap all one's energy and perseverance is not possible. It can be personal events or national events or something in between. Sometimes life is just too hard.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope the year since you wrote your most recent comment here, has seen improvement. Some way to make dealing with John's death and other difficult things possible so that you can find a way and a reason to wake up in the morning and get out of bed. I know how difficult those things can be, and then one must somehow get through the day.

I wish there was something I could say or do to make things easier for you, but I can't even help myself often times. Solutions to these things must be found by oneself and sometimes it seems there simply are no solutions. The passage of time is often the best treatment if one can just get through the days and nights.

Blessings and hugs dear friend. Take care . . .

Cee, thank you my dear friend for the comments.

maybe I will publish the poems in a book but right now I don't know what I will do. I miss John so much that sometimes I just walk around in a daze.

      Blessings dear friend.

Sometimes I have perseverance and sometimes I don't. If something seems like more trouble than it's worth I may not try my hardest. I just try to get it done satisfactorily. After all, banging your head against a brick wall will only bloody your head, it won't move or even dent/scratch the wall.

That said, often times I think sometimes people don't work at important things as much as they should, like keeping their marriage or their family together.

I'm still hoping you will combine all of these 'good word' poems into a book one of these days. I know now isn't convenient, but one of these days . . .

Hope everything is going as best it can. Blessings dear friend. Take care . . .

Peg, I am so glad you enjoyed my poem and the song. I know that we should never give up no matter what, but that is easier said than done.

Thank you dear friend for the comment.

When I worked for a large corporation, one of their core values was Perseverance along with Respect and Professionalism. At least, that was their slogan. I was delighted to see this word in the project good words and amazed that your article had slipped by without my reading it. I don't know how that happened!

Your poem was delightful and the song to go along was perfect - High Hopes. "Never give up. Never surrender."

"You will see your projects through." What a great line.

Au fait, thank you for your condolences and for the comments to "Perseverance" a word from the project good words, which I don't think that the trump administration and it's supporters abide by as a good word, I think they would have a rude awakening if they start a civil war.

I am sorry, I have not kept up with the news since August 13, with the passing of my son/stepson, heartbreak and anger do not mix and I have much to do, plus cutting the grass.

I hope all is well with you.

Blessings and hugs dear friend, I will talk with you later in the week.

Special Council Robert Mueller is certainly persevering. Did you know the FBI raided one of Paul Manfort's houses looking for documents relating to the Russian connections. I believe that happened on July 26 of this year, not that long ago. Strange it wasn't in the news more. Google it.

Think it's odd our media isn't more persevering in telling us about the 10 million $ fine levied on Trump in 2015 for using his Taj Mahall for money laundering Russian money. Money laundering is likely the way Trump got all of his money except for what his father left him which he squandered long ago.

I've also read that Trump supporters say there will be civil war if Trump is removed from office by any means. I guess that's a threat that they intend to start shooting at non Trump supporters. I wonder if these towers of intellectual ability ever heard of Ruby Ridge or the the Branch Davidians, and if they've seriously thought about whether Trump is worth their lives? I recommend they Google these events if they've forgotten about how they came out.

Hope all is well there. Take care . . .

Perseverance is so important and sometimes so difficult to do. Yet it's people who don't give up who succeed. Came back to share this excellent poem again.

Hope all is well with you and John and that you are in a cool place. Think the letter you wrote yesterday was successful. :) Glad we were able to talk and hope all is well there. Blessings and hugs dear friend. Take care . . .

It's not the smartest, the most skilled, the most creative, or the nicest people who succeed (though sometimes they probably do), but the people who don't give up and just keep trying are the ones who succeed most often.

Hope you are inside enjoying the cool. THI was 11 degrees today and add that to the temp which was 97 F. Blessings to you and John.

Au fait, thank you for the comments and voting this up, BAUI, pinning to AH and sharing on HP. When you talk about the tortoise it reminds me of when we went to the Emu ranch and I took a tortoise with, but Maureen did not want the tortoise it would eat the duck eggs. So I left it in the car and when we left the tortoise had gotten out inside the van. Everyone sat with their feet up on the seats.

We had several hard showers then it would stop for a while.

I hope all is well with you, Blessings and Hugs.

One of the most important traits any of us can have. Life is so full of detours and setbacks, only if we are very familiar with the word perseverance can we reach any of our goals or overcome whatever may come our way.

The "P" word, perseverance is the most important word in my life. Your strong, beautiful message strikes a chord deep in my heart. When I lost my son to cancer I had 2 choices. One was to persevere and continue living, the other to give up completely. Thank you Shyron for your poetry. Voted up and sharing.

What a description of that word Shyron. I learned the 3 p's - patience, perseverence and persistence years ago because after all of the kids at school bullied me it got mom & dad so mad. I was busy learning those words so that I could get back at them and I would be the one laughing instead of them. :-) I have used them through life ever since. I voted up, shared and pinned it.
