Photos, Poem
I can’t see where you’re coming from
As your form grows larger
You move closer and your face gets fuzzy
That look you give me
Leaves me questioning your motives
And the photo in your hand
That photo you’ve been alluding to all year
Seems to be letting me in on a small secret
No doubt the photos that we take
Will someday take us away
No doubt we’ll see each other in a different light
Unlike we see each other today
Our table is set for two
And has been for a while now
Our piano is out of tune
And the notes come out one after the other
Projects put on hold and you gone for hours
Your camera has been dead for days
Only holding memories from months ago
No doubt the photos that we take
Will someday take us away
No doubt we’ll see each other in a whole new light
Unlike we see each other today
You said we’d take that trip
You promised long ago
You said we’d travel far
You don’t even seem to want to go
I can’t see where you’re coming from
As the light gets dimmer
We sit across from each other and the silence billows
That look you give me
Leaves me wanting a reason
And the photo in your hand
That photo you haven’t shown me all year
Seems to be letting me in on a big secret
No doubt the photos that we take
Will someday take us away
No doubt we won’t see each other anymore
Just like we don’t see each other today
