Places to Sell Your Writing - Writer's Markets
Lately, I seem to be running into people who aren't sure where to look for places to sell their writing. It surprises me a little.
Before internet was a household staple, we old fogies used the Writer's Market. I still consider it the writer's bible, and mine is loaded with little sticky tabs that make a rainbow of colours around the edges. Each one marks a page that has a potential market for my writing wares. There are listings and advice in that book that I consider invaluable, but this article is about online submissions so I won't expound any more of the publication's virtues. It is worth checking out, though.
I've decided to break up the links into categories, and supply a brief description.
Canadian Writer's Market
For All of Us Non-Fiction Writers
Those of us who craft non-fiction pieces are well aware of the stiff competition out there. It really is dog-eat-dog but if keep your resolve and determination, you can build a loyal client base. That's assuming, of course, that you provide quality for those who hire you. If you stay the course, put in the work and network best you can, you will increase the number of orders you get.
Here are a few places to get you started. Good luck!
