You choose to live the plain way in the country with your wife

You plough the land and work real hard to have this kind of life

No telephone or MTV, no wifi to connect

Live in love with God and peace no reason to defect

Life really is quite simple all he does is clean and farm

Each year his wife carries a new baby in her arm

But when you need to go and shop out in the non plain store

They point and stare and laugh - you hang your head down at the floor

You're taught no matter what you always turn the other cheek

This lifestyle caused a bloody nose just the other week

Being simple in the real world can really take its toll

For all to live in peace and love should be our only goal

Very nicely said, Heather! I love your last sentence... "For all to live in peace and love should be our only goal"

      Thanks for sharing!

I often watch the Amish on tv here in England, which this reminded me off from your photos, and it seems like a great life to me, great poem!

Thank you Nell! Obviously I'm not plain but I do live where all of the amish TV shows take place. The pictures are all pictures I took from where I live. It is very beautiful and a slower pace for everyone. I love it. :)

Great message. It's too bad that "being simple in the real world" is such a challenge. We could all learn a lot by slowing down our lives.

      Thanks Lisa!

I agree. It would also be nice to be able to survive should all our technogy and modern luxuries fail us. I admit that I hope I never have to be without air conditioning in summer. That's where I'm very spoiled.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!
