Playing Catch Up

Updated on May 1, 2013
See, even Punkin adds to my HubPage reading delay!
See, even Punkin adds to my HubPage reading delay!

I’m late to HubPage parties

All of the time

I know, I know

It really isn’t a crime.

But if all my HP friends

Could stop writing for just one day

It would give me time to breath

And help my reading delay.

At times, I’ve been many weeks behind

For me, that means hundreds of hubs combined

I can’t possibly give them all the time they deserve

I really try, but it hurts my optic nerve.

So, stop for a moment

Give your fingers a rest

It won’t be that bad

Just give me time to digest.

There’s so much to read

So much to learn

Please stop writing for a short time

And then it’s okay to return.

To this awesome place

A writer’s land

Where we share our thoughts

And take a stand.

Please help me catch up

At least a bit

Be on time for once

Gosh darn it!

This is Sharyn's Slant

Loved this HP poem and from all the responses you've been getting it looks like many hubbers could relate to it.

Saw b.Malin's funny hub about her bathroom stall experience today and thought it was cool that she dedicated it to you!

      Voted up across the board.

      Hi Vicky,

Wow, six cats is a lot. Once I had 9 total, three adults and six babies. That was a lot of fun (plus 3 dogs). I didn't read much then, ha. But now I have two. My Punkin, she is constantly on the computer or the printer or at my feet, etc. She's very needy :) Thank you so much for stopping by!

I love your poem! I gave you all the votes possible. So funny and so true. It's impossible to keep up with reading everything that everyone writes. I just try to hit those I follow now and then to read their hubs. I can't do a whole lot at once since I work full-time AND part-time. I think we all understand the time factor. Great hub!

P.S. The pic of the cat is what drew me to this hub. :-)

Thank you Sunshine, you are always welcome to be late and/or crash the party any time. BTW, I have to track my reading by the daily email notifications. If I skip and go to one on HH or FB, it messes with my "great organization skills" lol. But right this moment I am catching up, I am only two days behind and may be caught up by this evening. It truly is a miracle. Well, no not really. It's a personal goal to be caught up for the new year and I believe I will reach it. Whooo! I wish I'd take my other 'goals' so seriously.

I have found that there is definitely a special time to make them. They tend to have a negative effect or no effect if they are made during the waning moon. At least with the ones I make. I finish them by hanging them outside during the full moon night and I do a little Choctaw dance and blessing for them to give them more power. I'm not sure why this works, but my recipients seem to think so.

This coming year I'm going to make Mayan themed dream catchers. I found the coolest mayan charms. They are in sterling silver and are quite expensive, but they are the best ever!

      Good Morning HB,

Isn't Punkin just the cutest. I just love her! I wish I was a speed reader. That would certainly help. But I see that even if you are not ever far behind, you can get stressed and have to clear that inbox. Ha, I understand. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are enjoying the holidays.

Punkin is SO cute and chooses "cat" places to nap. How precious. Thankfully I am a speed reader and can fly through some Hubs. Others I must slow down and savor every word, especially poetry or complex stories. Still I manage to stay only a day or so behind usually. Once or twice I was so far behind that I cleared my Inbox and started over. I was stressed just to think about it all.

Hey Kel, I think you were one of the first hubbers I "reached out" to. Little did I know you didn't know a damn thing either LOL. I remember sending you a private message asking why you didn't have ads showing on your hubs. You told me "I'm not here for that" or something to that affect. ha ha

We both had (and I still do) so much to learn. It's been a great ride though, hasn't it? I think it will be one year for me on Feb. 22! Seems longer in some ways . . .

Your honesty trumps everything else! I love it.

I do not feel obligated to follow someone just because they follow me. I do check them out, go to their profile, and make the decision at that time.

And yes, please send me pics of your four-legged kids. I only became a cat lover the past 10 years or so. Did you ever read my hubs on Momma Kitty and the one on When I Became A Cat Lover? I'm still a dog lover too but my feline girls are the best. Have a great night!

      Sharon,

Ummm .. I don't know what catching up means really. I follow about 25 people of which I actually read about five. (For a short period of time I thought I was obligated to return a follow out of courtesy) Trouble is some of them write stuff that would make me grind my teeth if I had to read it. I support a few who I consider friends though. I'm so self centered I don't even think I like reading other hubs period. I jumped on this because one, you're my pal, and two, it was short and sweet. I'm so freaking selfish, I'm not really sure why people like me. I'm just glad they do. Truth is, I'd do anything for a friend including read their hubs. If nothing else, I'm honest I guess.

Hey! On another note, I love your cat! I need to show you some pictures of my crew, Frodo and Tinker. I've got three big dogs, Clyde, Cass, and Poppy. I've also got the two cats. Frodo's my boy who is king of the roost, and Tinker's one I found under a dumster with her eyes still shut. I bottle fed her, so I'm her daddy. Never had cats before. I've always been a dog guy, but I love my cats big time. I'll round up some pics if my crazy crew over the next few days and send em over.

      Hi Martie,

What I tend to skip are articles that are written in parts or series knowing that I'll have a difficult time keeping up. For example, Barbergirl's 90 day workout hubs. I would skim them because I always like the photos she adds (especially of her kids) and I love her writing and her humor. But I rarely had time to read everything and comment. I'd be reading her Day 22 workout and she'd already be on Day 53. Ugh! You are right, this is life in the hubs!
