Been chasing dreams

Down mountain seams

Haven’t found my gold

I’ve wasted reams

of paper themes

unsure what I’ve told

Love is blind

Can be so unkind

To hearts that hope and dare

The sleepless mind

Does roll and grind

A recurrent nightmare

Lost in song

Please come along

There’s a way out of the maze

We all belong

To a common throng

Of songsters battling haze

Let’s set alight

The dreary plight

of hearts where shadows cling

We shall fight

For our birthright

To love and long and sing

Rainbows sigh

On a sunlit sky

Of those who care to dream

Words will cry

Spread wings and fly

To the pot of gold and gleam

Docmo...Your beautiful & inspiring words, flow just like a song...a lullabye, to be we set off to dream, once again.

Only when our dreams remain in our wakeful state, can we take the leap to make them REAL......I love this poem......UP+++

      Mohan (Docmo),

I came back to read your beautiful poem another time, and to share it with a poetry group I recently joined.

@Faith Reaper- I've updated the video so it should be 'listenable'...

@Faith Reaper: thanks for brightening my day. I'm glad you like those words ... that's what I truly feel. To love and long and sing IS our birthright! As for the video it's a song called 'Lifted' by lighthouse family - didn't know it wasn't allowed for viewing there until you told me. you could youtube it. Let me see if there is a version that is viewable everywhere. thank you!

@Poetic fool- Thank you for your wonderful comment. I'm not usually credited with economy of words and it is nice to know I can convey the idea in the lines of a simple verse.

@sunshine - I know how tired we get of chasing dreams down mountain seams. The Best wishes are of course those that just come true when you didn't even know you wished for it!

That is always the case, chasing dreams . . . so lovely dear one. The words are so beautifully written, woven together perfectly. I love that, "We shall fight for our birthright to love and long and sing." How lovely. I do hate that the video is not allowed in our country, as I know if you picked it, it is amazing as well.

      Voted Way Up

I'm too tired to chase. What are the chances my dreams will just fall in my lap? Such as the winning lotto numbers. Wishful dreaming. Oh, and awesome poem!!

Mohan, I have to agree with most of the other comments. This one has a delightful rhythm and flow but more importantly it is, even in it's simplicity, quite insightful. You've said a lot with an economy of words. That's not so easy to do. Voted up and more!

Daisy... Glad you like the rhythm and flow. I'm sure you'll find your pot of gold too... Thank you.

      Mohan (Docmo),

I especially liked the flow of your words in this poem, the rhythm. I felt as though I were floating as I was reading...perhaps I was chasing a rainbow.

Every word fits together so perfectly. I have to say my favorite is:

      "Rainbows sigh,

      On a sunlit sky

Of those who care to dream"

Care to we care or is it just something that happens to us when we sleep? This is such a beautiful and thought provoking poem.

      Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.

Docmo, you have the talent of making every word count. I attempt to do that in my poetry. Isn't it fun to say exactly what you want to say in just a few words? Sometimes my pieces start, like you said above in a comment, with a phrase and then I build my concept around that...kind of like the jigsaw puzzle. Brilliant, Mohan

These are beautiful words crafted together and is a delight to read.

There are many of us in this world chasing dreams and it's not easy to achieve them! It requires much sweat and perseverance and the right attitude, and with these - anything becomes possible and is no longer impossible!

God bless and peace to you my friend!
