Poem - Checkmate

Updated on January 2, 2016

Move to the right

or left.

I can’t.

I will never eat,

step on someone else.

Black and white tiles

limit my feet;

strings determine

my move,

just like a puppet.

I may be a pawn

but I can skip two,

then one,

cut the strings

then conquer

the King.

Did you understand the message of the poem?

It seems to say narrowness is death; expansion is life. Anyway, your words are woven in a most profound and beautiful way. Good poetry is like this.

I saw the note that said your poem is not featured. Include another photo related to the poem, perhaps a puppet. Right at the top, you can include another of top chess players in checkmate. easily obtained by googling the right words. I can help should you need this. They must not be fuzzy and make them wide.

Add a poll and a video of about 3-5 mins. maybe of chess, as your title implies, but you can also have one in a quandary, neither going forwards nor backwards. Finally, give a summary at the top. Best wishes.

Thanks Smilealot. Your comment didn't offend me in any way, promise. :) Your comment is close from what I really try to imply, good job for your wonderful interpretation. :D

I hope my comment hasn't offended you in any way (as you have not responded ). You may not be in any way politically minded and this poem may not have anything remotely political about it. It's just with you asking readers if they understood the meaning it seemed to imply that the poem was allegory :-))

Maybe a political message is being made here?..there is nothing for you to the left or the right so you make use of a cut throat capitalist system instead by stamping on someone else...and you are still a pawn but you have some limited freedoms (one step or two)??....or maybe this poem is about chess...nice write either way:-))
