Tim Mitchell has been writing poetry since high school. He enjoys exploring them, the many forms, and writing them

Rising to morning's welcome

Rising high above its warmth spread like a mom’s hug,

Good morning, good morning whispered gently to my ears,

Darkness recedes, its mystery where it goes always with me,

I dun’no yet.

Walking with no expectations comforted by hopes of new discovery,

Familiar scent fills the air full of exciting robust adventures ahead,

Heard is the quaint silence of yesterday saying goodbye as today arrives,

I dun’no yet.

Dusk’s dreams dash between glimpses of reality’s tale of now’s presence,

Understood is promises for next have no guarantee until first a step taken,

Standing at window a familiar mug filled full seen are new shadows arriving,

I dun’no yet.

Echoes of my love arrive sharing friendship is eternal and always a smile,

Heard is encouragement a next step is like a breath of mornings’ fresh air,

Today offers new songs of joyous occasion filling my heart full of my friend,

Now I know.

Such a beautiful poem Tim. My favorite line is "Echoes of my love arrive sharing friendship is eternal and always a smile". Thank you so much.

Very much touching expression of the poet's feelings and state of mind. The ending lines are great stressing on the friendships, love, and the ultimate realization. Enjoyed it a lot.

Great first line. What a wonderful way to start a poem than with a mother's hug.
