Poem: Lost on a Journey
"I Will Remind You" by Brian Asselin and Eric Disero
My Mother Coping With Her Husband's Alzheimer's
This poem is written by my mother, Joyce A. Spradlin.
Her husband suffers with Alzheimer’s. It is very difficult for her to watch and handle every day.
I suggested she begin writing down her thoughts.
Here is one of them.
"Lost on a Journey" by Joyce A. Spradlin
You are on a journey
and I am not with you,
but you are looking for me
as I hear you ask where I am.
I know you love me,
I know you care
because you want me near…
but you are lost on a journey
And I don't know where,
I can’t bring you back
but I try to tell you I’m here…
I accept at least you want me there.

That's broken my heart
I lack words for thia one.. Simply heartfelt, sad and sweet at the same time... Wooow
nice poem
A very powerful poem, Brenda, that really goes to the heart of this sad disease which causes so much anguish for its victims- those who have it and their families. Blessings to your mother and her beloved husband.
Alzheimer's disease cares not who it touches. I worked on an Alzheimer unit and saw the pain up close. My heart goes out to your mother. God bless.
Trying to find ways and means of being there and to help, it's not easy
Your piece was so touching, brought tears to my eyes.
Blessings to you and your family
Heart touching poetry
A very touching piece, Brenda. Love and best wishes to your parents.
Journey. I love this kind of poem. Thanks for creating this one. Stay safe always
Sad and touching!
Such a touching poem and 'Lost on a Journey' is exactly what I felt about my father. I am certain that when the power of speech goes people with this terrible illness can sense your presence. At least this gives us some comfort. The videos are beautiful and heartbreaking for me.
