Poem: Resilient

Updated on July 4, 2017

Feeling determined

and motivated

when feeling valued.

Losing productivity

when feeling diminished.

Wallowing in self pity

after humiliation.

You can confirm

that the sorrow is real

when the tears flow

"Crocodile tears" they are not.

It is cold

to make that assumption.

Although, recovering as fast

as I do

does indeed

take a lot of gumption.

Bouncing back

surprisingly quickly

after grave pain.

Picking myself up again

and saying that

a minute is

all of the time

that I have

to stay down.

When they rain has fallen

and my shoes are in the mud,

I go inside and start washing

my shoes.

Love the ending -- good way to recover from a tearful moment.
