Summer Sun

Sun, Sea and Sand

The sheer wonderment the sun, sea and sand bring to us is perhaps an echo of humanity's primordial relationship with the sea. Among the sheer variety of emotions and wonderment the beach conveys to us, romantic love is up there.

It is not unsurprising that couples choose seaside destinations for their romantic interludes and honeymoon. There is an infinitely sensual nature to lying on the beach, letting the waves caress our feet.

The added bonus of sunshine and it's eventual fade into night that melts everyone's heart.

This poem was written with such a day in mind, where there are just two souls entwined in romance, enjoy their day and await the coming night.

Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. The song, 'Summer son' by Texas, seemed an appropriate soundtrack to the video above.

Summer Sun

Lying on the sand

As the waves caress our feet

The sun is beating down

The skin feels all the heat

Can you hear the sea

As it rushes closer still

You move close to me

And my heart begins to fill

Summer sun, summer fun

Air is free, seagulls flee

Summer sun, summer fun

No one here, but you and me

Dripping wet your hair

Sand sticking to your skin

You’re my maiden fair

I like the way you glow within

Salty are your lips

As I cover them with mine

Hands rest on your hips

And your eyes begin to shine

Summer sun, summer fun

The sky is blue, clouds are few

Summer sun, summer fun

Feeling new, golden hue

Baby world can end

As we lie here on the beach

Untold words we send

As heaven’s in our reach

Love the way you move

I chase you to the sea

The waves roar and approve

Surround you and surround me

Summer sun, summer fun

Seashells glow, love does flow

Summer sun, summer fun

Cupid’s bow, time does slow

Deep blue the water is

As we dive under the foam

Oh how much we do wish

We were dolphins on the roam

The sun begins to slide

Dusk creeps up on the sky

Lying side by side

Let’s not reason why

Summer sun, summer fun

Hold me tight, feel the night

Summer sun, summer fun

Let’s take flight, in moonlight

Eternity is

Closer than you think

You and I and bliss

Million stars begin to blink.

This left me breathless. I have so many favorite verses "Dripping wet your hair / Sand sticking to your skin ... Salty are your lips / As I cover them with mine "....

You have taken the best parts of the summer ocean and merged them with such a beutiful passion. And a longing to stay lost in it... I read it a nearly a dozen times (I couln't stop!) and I am sure to read it a dizen more.

Wow! Great poem and the lady who got this is probably dancing in the streets. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this. Your love and appreciation comes through so sincerely and whimsically.

      You've got a wonderful spirit.

I'm partial to the ocean/beach reference too! Love the shore.

Nothing more soothing than a beautiful beach image, add to that the words of a master poet, and you will find pure bliss. What a wonderful picture you paint with your delicately powerful words:

      "Deep blue the water is

As we dive under the foam

Oh how much we do wish

We were dolphins on the roam"

Cool deep passion in these four brilliant strands of words...

Wow, Docmo, Rahul is right! You truly are a master of words. This poem brought me into the realm. I didn't have to read twice to try to figure out what you meant underneath the proffered words. Your message and sentiment is clear.

While some writings elicit a second read for the words to sink in, a captive writer grabs his audience at the very moment each word translates from the page to the mind.

I came to this poem through the compulsion to see who you are, based on a response Rahul made to a comment you left on his "Colored Prejudices" hub. I respect Rahul as a profound human being with a true gift.

He's right in his response. You are a person of supreme writing calibre!
