Poem To A Man That I Once Loved

Updated on September 24, 2012
Source

Did you ever know

How I loved you so?

You meant more to me

But I don’t think you could ever see

All that I wanted to give to thee

As I look back now to the start

I would never have your heart

I waited around for you to change

All I got was heartache and pain

But now that all is said and done

I think I am the one that won

As now I’m with the man of my dreams

And you are a faded memory

Awesome poem Susan! The "waiting around for change" part hit me, I understand. Glad you didn't wait too long.

This is a painful lesson everyone has to learn the hard way. But it makes us stronger and wiser and more appreciative.

Susan - that dude missed out! And obviously you are way too good for him!

Isn't it odd - to look back at all the things we thought were missed opportunities and they really weren't? I was once head over heels for a guy - I was certain we should be married and live together forever. Thank heavens he didn't love me back!!! The woman he did marry? Poor thing..he wouldn't work - he threw her around - and I ended up helping her get OUT of the relationship.

      Morning Susan.

      WOW for the foto.

      Super for your poem.

And a thousand kisssssses for Mr Jagger and the boys.

I really think that what your poem says has happened to us all from small children to we adults, and it doesn't get any easier with age but the nice thing is is that when you feel at rock bottom that miracle happens and he/she is standing before you at least i like to think that.

Super hub, take care Susan and have a nice day.

      LOL Ghaelach

Beautifully expressive, Susan, and oh, so true. Men love women thinking they will never change ... and they do. Women love men thinking they will change ... and they never do.

One can't wait forever for someone to change, we have to move on and find someone who really wants to love us and share our life with us for real. You did the right thing my friend by moving on. Look at who you have now, the love of your life and dreams. Woot...hugs from me to you. great poem expressing your feelings...
