Poem: Twilight (For Frankie)
I chanced upon a glimpse
Of you last evening
As twilight favored
The fading day adieu
And there, with a crowning sunset,
You held radiance among
The long shadows and the broad branched trees
Once a lamenting bird-call
Was common here
As to reason it is unknown
Only you can say…
For you now know all things-
And their worth
And in this knowingness
All things are well
As the day consoles the night
And the night consoles the day,
We ponder in affection for you
For you are the benevolence
Of affection
And when all is revealed
We too, will come to know
That shadows are but
Mere sunlight
To the pretense of an
Enlightened heart
Can we ever know
What is to be known
When we cannot even comprehend
The subtle things
That hold minority at your feet?
