Poems From the Jersey Shore - Vol 16 (Gimme Some Lovin)
Greetings From the Jersey Shore
Greetings once again from the Jersey Shore. It is hard to believe the summer is flying along. It wont be long til I will be going back to work. Well maybe it depends on what the schools choose to do this year. I'll find out soon.
While I still have time I will keep writing. Each of this selection of poems has something to do with love. I figured we all need a little love. I hope you enjoy them.
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
— Proverbs 12:18 NIVDon't Say It
Don’t say anything
If what you say is unkind
Only speak those words
Which help to bring about peace
Which help to promote true love
Don’t say it, don't say anything unkind
Maybe I should have known
But I let love cloud my mind
It is why I took the grief from you
And all the words so unkind
All the times I thought you’d change
But how you think, is who you are
You got lost in all your thinking
You’re better than those around
Take a good look in the mirror
See the truth, love’s where it’s found
Don’t say anything
If what you say is unkind
Only speak those words
Which help to bring about peace
Which help to promote true love
Don’t say it, don't say anything unkind
When push comes to shove
Only speak those words
Which help to bring about peace
Which help to promote true love
Don’t say it, don't say anything unkind
"Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins."
— 1 Peter 4:8Can’t Stop Thinking About Love
I can’t stop thinking about love, your love
Since I met you
I can’t stop
Thinking about love
Ooh something got a hold of me
Don’t let go
Something got a hold on me
I won’t let go
I once wandered
a dry barren land
Living the life
I’d planned
Thought I had
I had all the love
I dreamed
Till I met you
My eyes were opened
I saw my life
for what it is
for what it is
I can’t stop thinking about love
Since I met you
I can’t stop
Thinking about love
I once wandered
a dry barren land
Living the life
I’d planned
I can’t stop thinking about love
Since I met you
I can’t stop
Thinking about love
Ooh something got a hold of me
Don’t let go
Something got a hold on me
I won’t let go
"Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law."
Can't Get No Satisfaction
Can’t get no satisfaction
No, no,no
Can’t get no satisfaction
For I’ve tried
And tried
But I can’t get satisfaction
I have so much stuff
I don’t know what to do
If fills my house
In the basement, the attic too
None of it matters, use it, move on
Find me some new toys
To rely on
Can’t get no satisfaction
No, no,no
Can’t get no satisfaction
For I’ve tried
And tried
But I can’t get satisfaction
I’ve discovered
After all of these years
Satisfaction comes
Not in the things you have
Not in what you buy
But in the love
You give
The love you get
From those around you
Moonlit Nights
I love to walk
around on
moonlit nights
The world around me
is such
a beautiful sight
The world is bathed
in a moonlit glow
As if covered in
a new fallen snow
I especially love
To walk on a dark lane
Look up at the
ethereal plane
See the scattered stars
cast out like dust
Stare at the moon with
It’s earthly thrust
Yes, I love the nighttime
where the sky is clear
And the soft music
of silence
Is all your hear
Best Friends
Best friends never
leave you hanging
Best friends know
what you’re bringing
Best friends know
what you’re gonna say
Best friends know
your quirky ways
Best friends are there
no matter the time
Best friends are
your true life line
Best friends are there
when they don’t know why
Best friends are the
true joy of life
Best friends have the
love you always need

Mother
Mom, I still can’t believe
I’ll never see you again
I’ll never feel the warmth
Of your embrace
I’m missing you
I’m missing you
Since you’ve been gone
I’m missing you
Mom, I still can’t believe
I’ll never see your smile
I’ll never hear your voice
Or laughter again
Mom, I still can’t believe
How quickly your life
Came to an end
Thought there was more time
To say the words buried
Deep within my heart
Deep within my soul
I wasn’t ready to let you go
Now
I’m missing you
I’m missing you
Since you’ve been gone
I’m missing you
Mom, I’ll never see you again
I’ll never feel the warmth
Of your embrace
I’m missing you
I’m missing you
Since you’ve been gone
I’m missing you
Father
I remember your love
Throughout the years
Quieting my heart
Stilling my fears
You taught me the things
I needed to know
To help me to live
To help me to grow
You led me through
So many bumps and scrapes
Picked me up, dusted me off
Sent me on my way
Oh those years went so fast
Soon I left you behind
A life of my own
I needed to find
Through our times together
Seemed oh but a few
I still felt your love
Even now I still do
I knew this time would come
I dreaded this day
I watched in fear
As your health began to fade
You are gone now
Into an eternal home
Someday I’ll see you again
Someday I'll come
You are my father
You always will be
In my heart I’ll carry you
For all eternity
