Poems and Poetry: Self-Reliance
Self-Reliance
Deeper and deeper into
A hole you crawled
Longing for a life that
No longer existed.
Instead of living with your
Feebleness, you seek to
Fasten on some person’s
Strength.
If no one is willing to be
Burdened by you, ill-treated,
Neglected and miserable you feel.
Life for you must a festival be
Else a dungeon the world becomes.
You must be admired
You must be flattered
Else life is a bore.
No matter what trouble you’re in
You can get yourself out of it
You just work hard, set your mind
You’ve got such a good mind so
The landscape of your mind
You must reshape in order to
Stand on your own God-given feet
