Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

Ode to Adversity. A free verse Sonnet

Ode to Adversity

She kissed my Heart,

Nature walked me to the moon

And we both cradled my struggles.

I pine in the handicap of my afflictions,

Adorned by Love, unfolding its own secrets;

Singing its own mysterious songs.

Here in this bodily temple,

Her dauntless Will pushes me,

To manifest the Beloved’s dream unique.

Everything really does happen for a reason,

And while one may not comprehend this veil of darkness,

‘Tis but a shadow interwoven, with the colours of His Light.

Adversity dyes me in shadows, only to invoke the Bridegroom of the sun;

All continues to happen, for the progression of my soul.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. May 1st 2019

The Glory of Thy Love. A free verse Sonnet

They say ‘the sky is the limit’, true,

Yet she’s naught but an ant,

In the Heart of a true Lover.

The sun and moon nourish the cosmos;

Replenishes the Earth. Steeped in the mystery

Of ecstasy, the twinkling stars cascade Your elegance.

I stand in awe of the beauty of sunset,

Shedding its shimmering rays on the horizon.

Yet all these illustrious luminaries, O Love,

Are contained in the echoing silence of Thy breath.

They say the sky is the limit, true,

Yet all that is lost in ignorance, transforms only

By an effulgent fire, hidden in the resonance of Stillness.

O Weaver, what is this puny sky, compared to the glory of Thy Love?

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 27th April, 2019.

It speaks of Love, the Love that is superior to sentiments and human virtues. It speaks of celestial Love. That music also comes without words, so I probably picked the wrong one. Been a while.

If you meditate, then it is a soothing sound for midnight or early a.m. Peace.

We are certainly being tested with adversity now. It is bringing out the kindness of many people as they reach out to others for help. That video at the end has such soothing music. I enjoyed it even though I could not read the words from another language. It is very meditative.

    Thanks Eric.

I thought that you had already visited this piece. You are in my Heart and that's why I feel such oneness.

I do appreciate your prayers. My eyes were a bother for seven weeks. Much longer than I expected. It was holding me up here as I'm doing so much service in Africa via the net. God's mercy seems to be prevailing and for the last 3-4 days I have felt better. I will see the eye pros again on Monday and take things from there. Gratitude as always my bro. Love to your family and happy Mother's Day tomorrow. Look out for me on Sunday. Peace.

I do not know how it works. I think I am selfish to pray for your eyesight. It may just be that I want your love to shine through seeing eyes. Yes I know that your vision is in your God heart. Like I said, maybe selfish.

    Thank Love for you.

    Lovely sonnets, Manatita!

I am reading these poems after a long gap, I think. You published some post prior to this which I didn't go through. But, I had your other poems through a message sometime back around Easter.

I hope you are doing well. Blessings to you, my dear Bro.

Good evening, Mary. Glad to hear from you and I trust that you are coping with your loss. I do have a sweet piece about grief. Watch this space. Your kind sentiments expressed is appreciated. Om Shanti! Peace!

    Hi Dana,

Yes, my Sweet. I know that you have struggled some. The Alchemist Supreme, burns us in the fire of adversity, only so we can ascend to the flames of His effulgent Light. Hari Om! Praise be!

Good to see you back here. I haven't been in for sometime, too, as I had been away. I love this recent poem. True, everything happens for a reason and in the "resonance of stillness" we will know. Thanks again.

Adversity has certainly strengthened me. I used to wonder why my life appeared to always be a struggle. The beauty of it was I began to have a lot of wisdom to share with others going through the same struggles. Now I know things happen for a reason.

Good to see your beautiful writings again.

Good morning, my friend. Always a joy to see you, my Didiji. Namaste!

Yes, I was taking a rest as I would take one very shortly. Eyes are sore … tired. Yes. Adversity shapes and mould us, like the potter and the clay. She's God's Alchemist. Thank you so much!

Manatita, the 2nd poem you shared with me a few days ago, but again you saved the best for last. The first offering is stated with such eloquence and grace, recognizing that even in our most difficult struggles we are not abandoned, we are not alone. We endure the fire of the refiner who purifies us.

How refreshing to read something new from you. The last two lines in the first poem touches me deep inside. Such striking imagery. No surprise there, neither in you second poem so impressively presents the Glory of love. Two beautiful poetic treats!

You are very kind, my Brother.

Today I will meet one of the Coordinators from Australia re our event in East Africa. The Run is in South America for six weeks and is slowly making its way to us in East Africa. He is here because we give free musical concerts in churches, cathedrals, parliament ... and he is in that very special group of singers.

Thank you … thank you. God alone knows you have a lot to do. Had the sutures removed from my eyes on Monday plus an anti-inflammatory injection. So I'm moving slowly with things currently. My love to the family. Gratitude.

    Hi Shauna,

I'm home. I'm not travelling till August to America and then October to Africa. Did not go in April because of my eye operation. Always a joy to see you. Gratitude and much Love.

Manatita, wonderfully done. I was to sit down and read it. Foolish me. Half way through I got up and came back to feel it. Thank you for changing the attitude of my now.

    Written with "in love".

    Now read with "in love".

I used to attack adversity, now I sit back and watch myself deal.
