Poetry--Dry Those Tears

Updated on August 29, 2012

About

This was another Poetry Challenge. And a challenge indeed. I had 45 minutes to follow somewhat strict rules.

Each line had to a certain amount of words....6,5,4,4,5,6...and the theme was Mother Earth thinking along the lines of the movie Wall-E as in what the earth looked like.

The first two parts had to have words of sorrow and destruction. The last two parts had to be drying tears and showing hope.

I barely made the 45 minute time limit so I wasn't able to do any kind of revising.

Thank-you for taking the time to read Dry Those Tears!

Dry Those Tears

Tears fall softly from the sky

Weeping Willow born to cry

Wailing winds echo despair

Screaming for someone’s care

Drowning forever in future sorrow

Mourning resources, none left for tomorrow

Stripped of beauty once held light

Ravaged from once glorious might

Naked, terminated of life

Emptied by human’s knife

Barren wastelands no trees rest

Humans meant not be lecherous guest

Do not cry for help nears

Worry not, dry those tears

Future is still untold

Searching for someone bold

Time drifts like fallen sand

Call to Arms cure the land

Take only what is truly needed,

New life need be seeded

In order to survive

Earth needs to revive

Cleansed of all the greed

Have faith that we will succeed.

Patty! So good to see you again! I see you've taken another challenge and done marvelously with it. It is a message that needs be heard and understood. So sad that man is worse than the army ant in devouring all in his path. But, why worry about a park when one can make money on a parking lot? Great Job as always! It's good to see you back! You HAVE been missed!

Rich, I agree that it is sad that greed tends to dictate how people are and would rather make money than cherish a place like a park. Thank-you sooo much for your encouraging comments!!! I am glad that the kids are finally back in school so that I have a little more time to write!!! Thanks Again!!!

Frank, WOW, Thanks for the Awesome comment!!! I love using variations of Time drifts like fallen sand and use it often in other works I do...one variation I use is "time dribbles on like the long fallen sand" and others as well!! I don't know why, but I love that as well!!

LOL...all of your comments are always welcomed!!! Thanks Again!!!

Patty, your poetry is the need of the hour. The message could not be more emphasized. I have been reading a lot about global warming and writing about it. Your poetry has made a very strong impact in me. Hope you come up with more along these lines. Voted up.

Yaazhini, Global Warming is a terrible thing, but one that can be slowed down if we each do our part!! It is time for the greed to end and time for people to help cure the Earth. This is our planet (regardless of where we are from) and we all need to work together!! I do plan on doing other poetry as well as Hubs in regards to this subject.

THANK-YOU sooo much for taking the time to read this and comment!! I truly do appreciate it!!

I really like this poem - well written and in 45 minutes. I think that is genius! I like the images you use and the photos are precious. The earth is burning up far too quickly. I hope we can make it last!

suzettenaples, I think that if everyone just does their part, we do still have a chance to help undo some of the damage or at the very least slow down the process. THANK-YOU sooo very much for your kind and supportive comments!!! I truly do appreciate it!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!!
