My Poetry Is About Life| The World's worst Poem | Poetry to Ruin Your Mind.|Photos Included

Updated on May 22, 2013

Poetry to make you moan. Obama, hear me groan!

I am not a poet

And boy do I know it

My life is more than half over

And just yesterday, I was playing Red ROVER

I lost my job last week

Now I am up a creek

I just turned forty-three

I was a teenager in 1983

Being over forty in a bad economy

Takes a lot out of me

Because everyone seeks wisdom

Except when hiring for the business kingdom

I am looking for someone to hire

A guy with a spare tire

I still have a lot to give

If my age you’re willing to forgive

I have a family to feed

So, you see I am in need

I will not call in like your younger employees with a hangover

Or my wife will say, with our bills, it is over

The doctor gives me pills

To get over my unemployment ills

But what I need is cash

Or my life will turn to ash

So, what I need is employment

Not self-fulfillment

But is it bad to want both?

Or, am I some foolish oaf?

Oh well, every Hubber seems to be some kind of poet

Some are not talented and do know it

However, I told you I am not a poet

And now you know it

Was this poem was so bad that you:

pmorris, I understand how desperate you were to be writing this. Well, I have been on the same boat brother. But you really should write more such poems for the chronically taciturn ...:D

Hey PM, it's ok to write bad poetry, especially if it is in limerick form.

There once was a guy who did hiring

But turning them down was too tiring

So now he has that trauma

      Wishes he hadn't hired Obama

Or at least was in charge of firing

Look on the bright side, at least when you get your Ph.D. you won't have to pay for therapy. =:)

So you had already written a poem. Not sure how I missed it. Not bad for a kind of non-poet who knows it.

This economy has been so hard on a lot of families and we just keep waiting for the promised uptick. I have a daughter in law who cannot find a job. She and my son are losing their house. His father and I are helping as much as we can, but their mortgage payment is just way too high for only one job in the household.

I know it is not the great depression, but times are tough and I do sympathize. Theresa

PhillyDreamer, I think that a real poet, who is also a dreamer, could really write some good poetry when he feels like a used up has been. You might be able to touch someone in a very real way and make another human being feel better while living in an absurd universe. I wish you luck (not that you need it).

      Georgie Lowery,

Why in Hades would you want to be an octopus? Well, they have big brains, eight arms, and they use the expulsion of ink as a…wait a minute! You just want to write faster and win more Hub Nugget awards!

I think everyone is a poet to some degree, and I enjoyed writing it; however, I think that I am done with poetry for now. In closing, I thank you for your kind words.

LOL!!! I voted for groan, only because I know exactly what you're going through with the age thing, unemployment and so on!!

but onto other things. Maybe you think your poem is no good but I loved it!! Don't know if that means an awful lot, since I'm not a poet either. I've voted this up firstly because I genuinely enjoyed this and secondly because it's very original!!!

It wasn't the worst I've read. I am so sorry that this is happaning to you. I hope it works itself out, in a good way.

ps. I always wanted to be an octopus!

That was terrible, but I feel your pain. I'm 34 and feeling like a used up has been.
