Poetry of a Broken Heart: Dead Men Don't Fly
I never thought it would come to this
You soaring like an eagle and me still hiding in shadows
Some how I expected a different outcome
Like maybe you'd help me learn to fly again
But I took too long
My own fear getting in my way
Now I watch you sail the skies
Beautiful as ever
But no longer by my side
It's so painful to watch
But I can't take my eyes off of you
I long for the inner strength I once had
But that was a different time
And I was a different person then
Just another log
To throw in the fire
Of my own self pity
Dead men don't fly
We burn
So that the world can be purified
