For National Poetry Month #23

I hate my scale

and equally stubborn,

it retaliates.

Willful and capricious in nature,

it awaits my daily visit

with glee

as it calculates to the ounce

and announces the latest

of my failures.

And despite evidence to the contrary,

(avoidance)

I find myself bound to its

spiteful nature.

Each day a vow,

Each night a curse.

You captured the essence of my relationship with the scale...dependent and always hoping for a kind reading. It is such a liar! Very witty and fun. :)

I loved this! Some people just can't resist getting on the scales every day. I refuse to do that. I just know by how my jeans fit if I've put on a pound or two.

Great poem, I voted it UP.
