Prayer - ASAP - Always say a Prayer - 35th "Good Word" of the Good Words Project!

Updated on November 26, 2016

Prayer - 35th Good Word in the Good Words Project

The "Good Words" project, created by Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith.

Grace gives us a good word each week to practice living by, to help and inspire fellow Hubbers, to become the best writers we can be.

This is Grace's calling, to inspire and promote writers, authors and poets.

When Grace first started the "Good Words" project, I promised to write a poem for every good word. I may not get them done as quickly as I would like but will continue to do them as quickly as possible for me.

I so admire Grace for her Leadership in starting this project, I also know that it is her Ambition to help unknown writers gain recognition for their work.

I read Grace’s testimony of losing her practice of prayer, and this poem is dedicated to my dear friend Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith.

Prayer

© by Shyron Shenko

I know what my friend Grace is saying

When she said she felt her spirit

Had fallen into a hole

And I feel somehow

My own faith is waning

And maybe growing cold

As I spoke with Grace

She listened patiently

To my tales of woe

It was then I felt ashamed

For her to hear me complaining so…

Then I remembered a Bible verse I’d read

“So then because thou art lukewarm,

Neither hot nor cold”_____Revelation 3:16

Keeps going round inside my head

And filled my heart with dread

My Prayer time had dwindled

Prayers were left unsaid

When all the earthly complications

Filled my thoughts instead

As in my closet on my knees

My private time with Jesus

Needs to be rekindled

And my Prayers must all be said

ASAP

Always say a Prayer (ASAP)

Always say a Prayer

The way that Jesus taught

But, humbly say your prayers

You do not need to pray out loud

Then you would be praying to the crowds

"But when thou Prayest

Enter into thy closet

And when thou hast shut thy door, PRAY" _____Matthew 6:6-13

Prayers of thanks, of gratitude, of praise, all are heard and our needs are met when we talk with the Lord. Your poem is a wonderful reminder of this.

Au fait, thank you for the comments and for coming back to share this.

I know that it is really hard for some people to say a prayer and then when it is not answered in the way they want they are angry with God. So sad.

Blessings and hugs ASAP my dear friend.

Came back to share this great poem again. A shame so few people are familiar with prayer, what it is, how it's done, and what is accomplished.

Hope you're having a great day and staying dry. Take care . . .

Dana, Jo truly is an amazing person and friend, she has been a blessing in my life. I believe as you do that prayer is between me and God and personal.

Thank you Dana for the comments, Blessings and Hugs dear friend

Jo is truly amazing. Her dedication to helping writers receive recognition is nothing short of remarkable. People will find it hard to believe that the most motivational people can have a hard time motivating themselves. Being able to exhort, I believe is a beautiful gift from God. As for prayer, I usually pray in the spirit whenever it hits me. I just close my eyes and talk to God, I found that easier than praying out loud.

What beautiful words to live by. Your poem is as always moving and deep. I love the verse, "Pray without ceasing", I Thessalonians 5:17. And I love the acronym Always Say A Prayer. It puts the heart into it. Awesome, beautiful, useful and meaningful.

Dear Patricia, I know that our Lord hears what is in our hearts even if the words do not come out, and I know as you do that he hear every prayer.

Thank you again for the Angels, comments and compliments.

The Angels are returning with hugs from me.

      Shyron

The power of prayer is beyond our comprehension. I feel so blessed that when I wish to communicate with our Lord I can just begin to say what is in my heart and I know He hears.

      Beautifully done....

Angels are winging their way to you this Valentine's Day Afternoon ps

Shauna, thank you for your comment and for sharing your thoughts on prayer. I went to public schools, and my Mammaw taught me to pray according to Jesus words. I think everyone should pray the way you do, the way is right each one.

All, forgive the time it took for me to get back to you, my time get shorter and shorter. I don't know what happened to Sunday, Monday was doctor for hubby and town council meeting that night, Tuesday was MRI for me and Migraine for me maybe from all the noise in that dang machine. Wednesday another doctor visit and as soon as we came home back to bed.

Just now headache is easing up.

You, my dear friends are a real blessing.

A wonderful poem and reminder that we should put God first. No sitting on the fence and no trying to make personal gains by praying loudly to be seen of men. It can indeed be difficult to keep one's faith strong, but remember that Jesus maintained his determination to save the world after all he was put through.

Going to share this with followers. Hope you and John are both doing well and looking forward to a wonderful Christmas. May God bless you and strengthen your faith and help you to face all the difficult times we must all get through at times. Take care . . .

ASAP, Always Say A Prayer. Awesome!

I don't pray the way I was taught in Catholic school. Rather, I have conversations with God. I don't get on my knees or fold my hands in prayer. I simply speak. And God listens.

Shyron, I like that kind of praying. ( In a closet ) Prayer is not meant for man's ears. Talking with God is personal. So many stand and pray a loud, soulful prayer for others to say " Amen " I hope everything is going well with you and yours. Beautiful poetry! Thank you..

What perfect timing as I sat down here this Saturday morn, with my cup of coffee, and see your powerful hub filled with so much truth as to prayer, pop in!

I love your creativity in using the ASAP.

We have all certainly been there in getting distracted with life's stuff that is constantly thrown at us, and then it seems our prayer life, which the most important aspect of our lives each day, seems to be placed to the side. Our most intimate and personal time spent with Jesus is so important, just as in any personal relationship. He hears, He listens, He answers and He desires for that beautiful relationship of communication with us, so that we may come to know Him intimately.

Just beautiful beyond any words I can come up with, dear Shyron.

Up ++++ tweeting, pinning, G+ and sharing

      God bless you, beautiful lady.
