Prepared for the Prelate
A Prelude to Rapture
1. Uneasy had ever been the head
that wears the crown - 'tis always said
whether made of heavy gold or painful thorns
or even a work of feathers or irons.
Leaders of men and servants of all
are they that have answered the divine call
to be God's bondmen in the service of Christ
and do their best to prevent Satan's heist
Always first in the field of Spiritual battles
and ready to save God's flock from all kinds of rattles.
2.He arrived today as part of his job description
To pour us a blessing without any restriction
Ever ready to do his duty, he looked younger
A spring in his step that made him seem taller
Such was the authority that heaven has bestowed on this man -
Born of the West but a citizen of every clan -
He chose his words carefully
A study in very surety
Wearing his Cassock - holy, tidy and clean
He blessed us one and all, his words not mean!
3. The preparation of the Diocese was powerful
Members, one and all, refused to look awful
The escort he got was more than was reserved for governors
The zeal he inspired was the stuff of legends - Oh! Cavanaugh!
He received rapturous serenades
From the Boys' and Girls' Brigades
And off to the next Circuit the entourage proceeds
Trust Wesley Circuit to top Banham's deeds
How I wish this same level of preparation is what obtains
As we eagerly await the Rapture of the Church by the One who bore our pains!
What happens when we fail to do our duty efectively?
1. Others are discouraged______________
2. Progress is stagnated_______________
3. Others are made to work harder______________
4. Bad feelings become rampant leading to violence___________
Which do you think? Is it better not to do your duty than to overdo your duty?
